From Passion to Profession
Hong Kong Heritage Explorer began in 2005 as a small initiative by Dr. James Wong, a history professor with a deep passion for Hong Kong's cultural narrative. What started as informal walking tours for university students soon evolved into something much greater.
Born from Dr. Wong's frustration with the lack of in-depth cultural tourism options that went beyond shopping and dining, our company set out to reveal the authentic historical layers of Hong Kong. In those early days, our team consisted of just three enthusiastic guides operating from a tiny office in Wan Chai.
As interest grew, we expanded our offerings to include specialized historical tours, cultural workshops, and educational programs. By 2010, we had established partnerships with local heritage conservation groups and museums, strengthening our commitment to authentic storytelling and community involvement.
Today, Hong Kong Heritage Explorer has grown into a respected cultural tourism company with a team of expert guides, each specializing in different aspects of Hong Kong's rich heritage. Our headquarters in Tsim Sha Tsui serves as both our operational base and a cultural hub where visitors can learn about upcoming tours and events.
